It was rather cold at the race site on both days of racing. The video camera did not like the cold very much so there is limited video footage available. The footage here shows the start of the second day of racing until the cold got to the camera and automatically shut it down.

Staging Area preparation was the order of the day

Town of Didsbury equipment prepared the Staging Area for mushers and volunteers, the Race Office is set in place and the concession tent is erected. Before last light, the Tanas Industries payloader begins the process of transporting snow to the trail under the bridge.

The river runover where the trail passes under the bridge must set up and freeze before snow can be moved and packed on the trail to make it safe for dogs, sleds and drivers.

2-way traffic divider fence put in place under the bridge

Trimming Shrubs and Jesse Byiers on the race trail

Trail maintenance on this day involved removing the last of the shrubs sticking up in the trail. This is being done so one of these shrubs doesn't slap a dog in the face or trip a skijorer. The video shows some other trail features and Jesse Byiers runs the 4-dog, 4-mile trail.

The morning started out with a pair of Moose investigating the race trail then it was on to the test runs. Rachel ran 4- and 6-dog teams, Dena ran a 5-dog team and Jesse ran a 4-dog team. All three mushers reported the race trail is ready.
