The 2011 edition of Rosebud Run's Mush Rush 2 sleddog sprint races was a booming success. In fact it was so well received, the 2011 participants enthusiastically insisted that this race format become part of Rosebud Run's annual race schedule.

Mush Rush 2 is the second of Rosebud Run's just-for-fun dog-sledding events of the race season. This race will take place on the Rosebud Run race trail provided trail conditions are satisfactory for such a race. Rosebud Run Race Rules will apply for this race. The date for Mush Rush 2 is determined by trail conditions and the race circuit schedule and, more than likely, on about two weeks notice. Watch this site for updates on the scheduling of the Mush Rush 2 race.

Mush Rush 2 will be a single-day, two-heat, 3-Class event with the second heat being run at night. The first heat will start at about 3:00 PM, dinner will be planned for 6:00 PM and the second heat will start at about 7:30 PM. There will be three (3) Classes, the 2-Mile Open Class, the 4-mile Skijoring Class and the 4-mile Sledding Class. Race order in the first heat within each class will be determined by the number of dogs and a random draw; teams with the largest number of dogs will be highest in the race order, for teams with equal numbers of dogs the race order will be determined by random draw. The winner in each Class will be determined by the registrant who guesses closest to his/her second heat race time.

Second heat race time guesses will be recorded during the dinner break. Teams will start at one (1) minute intervals and subsequent Classes will not start until all teams in the previous class have completed their heat. All competing sleds must be equipped with a brush bow, dog bag, brake and snow hook.

Dinner will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs and deep brown beans along with condiments. There will be an open fire pit at the site, a barbecue and a Coleman stove for cooking dinner. We will have hot water for coffee, hot chocolate and tea and a limited supply of soft drinks. There will be no charge to participants for dinner although donations for the meal will be graciously accepted.

There will be a $20.00 entry fee to help offset the cost of Society projects and trail improvements (see our Projects page). Be sure to bring a head lamp. We will be conducting these races with a skeleton crew. You should come prepared to assist other teams and mushers get to the starting gate at their assigned start time and back to their vehicles at the end of their heat.
