EDK Musher Challenge The Wilderness Classic Sled Dog Derby (Elkford), Rosebud Run Sleddog Classic (Didsbury) and Bootleg Sleddog Races (Kimberley) have teamed up to create a musher challenge based entirely on participation in all three races. This unprecedented initiative is designed to recognize and potentially reward mushers who make the effort to attend and compete in all three races. Placing at each of the races is not a factor in this initiative, only the fact that a musher competes in and completes any class being offered at each of the hosting events. There will be three prize packages up for grabs, one from each of the hosting organizations. Winners will be determined by the random draw of names from a field of eligible mushers at the event being held last on the race calendar. If all races are held on schedule, the winners will be drawn at the Bootleg Sleddog Races in Kimberley in 2011. Details on the prize packages will appear here once they have been established. To be eligible for the draw, all a musher has to do is compete in and complete a class, obtaining a final time, at each of the three races. All mushers competing in and completing at least one class in each of the three races will be automatically entered into the draw. Race times nor final placings will have any bearing on eligiblity for the EDK Musher Challenge. Full rules for the EDK Musher Challenge are available here (pdf). EDK Musher Challenge Winners Winners of the 2011 EDK Musher Challenger were: Mark Bernadet, Oliver Hope and Christian Turner. |
